MEATBALLS IN SPICY TOMATO SAUCE

INGREDIENTS

For Meatballs:

  • 1 lb. Hamburger (I use 94% fat free)
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 bunch chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tap cumin
  • 1.5 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For Sauce:

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1/2 tbsp cumin
  • 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1/4 tbsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp ras al hanout
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 14 oz can of tomatoes in purée

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix all meatballs ingredients
  2. For sauce: In a wide pot sautéed the onion until golden.
  3. Add remaining ingredients and cook for 10 minutes on low heat until thickened.
  4. Add meatballs and cook, covered, for 20-25 minutes.
